The short version
Places is free, requires no account, and does not store your location or your searches against you. Any precise location you choose to share stays in your browser.
What we process
When a page loads, our edge function reads your public IP address to show an approximate location — this is processed in memory at Cloudflare’s edge and not logged by us. When you search a place or use a tool that needs elevation or a time zone, the query or coordinates are sent to our cached edge proxy (which forwards to OpenStreetMap Nominatim or Open-Meteo) solely to return a result; we don’t attach them to you or retain them.
Browser location
Tools that show your precise location use your browser’s geolocation, which always asks your permission first. That location is used only in your browser to render the result; it is never transmitted to or stored by us.
Cookies & analytics
We use local storage only to remember preferences such as your chosen language. We do not sell your data.
